The Lowdown
September 3, 2007
Welcome to the “Lowdown,” your periodic report on all that’s interesting on the internet (at least interesting to me). Here you’ll find a little something for just about everyone. Enjoy.
Listen to an absolutely fascinating NPR “Fresh Air” interview with Alice Cooper. His father was a pastor and he’s returned to the Christian faith he knew growing up.
Agree or disagree with Paste Magazine’s list of the 100 best living songwriters.
Read about the kind of baseball game that hasn’t happened for 110 years - a 30 run route by Texas over Baltimore.
Watch Marc Driscol, pastor Mars Hill Church, Seattle, speak about The Supremacy of Christ and the Church - a passionate plea for Biblical orthodoxy, doctrinal truth, and the exaltation of Jesus Christ - essential aspects of church growth.
Read about the gaping hole in the universe that scientists have recently found.
Search for the hole yourself with Google Earth’s new feature - Google Sky, which allows you to zoom in and explore the sky.
Better yet, book a flight to space with Virgin Galactic and search from there. Only $200,000. Don’t think space-flight is for you? Watch the promotional video which just may change your mind.
Read a pastor’s thoughts on politics, poverty and Christianity. A refreshing perspective that acknowledges that the issues aren’t always as simple as many Christians think.
Read about Maxim magazine’s article on how to pick up women in church.

Got something to say?

Hey Aaron! I downloaded your two most recent sermons to listen to tomorrow as we only have church once every two weeks. I still remember the “homily” you gave at Fair vespers when I was in high school about taking responsibility and not shifting blame (i think that was it…correct me if I’m wrong!) i’ll try and write to you sometime this coming week. now that i’ve sent you this comment, it will actually put the pressure on to actually do it.
giv emy love to lacy and emily…who is the cutest kid i’ve seen in years!
Aaron—I first encountered AC at a Ligonier Conference when they used to have their extravaganzas…both plenary speakers and seminars. If I recall correctly it was a seminar of Ken Myers on Christianity and Culture…a subject AC must have pondered a great deal about in his lifetime. Anyway, he looked like someone off the streets of Clearfield [maybe not!] or Pittsburgh.
PS—Great pics of Daniel and the rest of his family. Congratulations.

Paul - great to hear from you and see your blog. Looks like you’re doing well in Tanzania. Blessings!
WCK - Someone told me recently that Sproul and Cooper play golf together. There’s a group I’d like to be a part of!
